Alexander McQueen F/W ‘10/11

After all was said and done, everyone has slowly been getting used to the idea of Lee McQueen never putting a new collection out for us to gently gasp at as we marvel at his talent and prowess as a designer.

But the barely healed wounds were torn open afresh as 18 beautiful creations glided down the catwalk in Paris.

Inspired by Byzantine art, the regal collection was jaw droppingly beautiful. Tastefully balanced golds were combined with the simple and time tested palette of white, black and red. Intensely detailed dresses that were beautifully tailored strutted down the catwalk, reminding us just how intensely beautiful Lee’s designs have always been.

The collection marks a stark difference in the direction that Lee was going in compared to most of the fashion world, nude colours and simplistic draped designs being showcased everywhere - and a welcome break too.

I was also slightly surprised at just how wearable the whole collection is. Whilst by no means every day wear, I can picture many of my friends looking stunning in many of of the outfits.

Once again, Lee has justified his place as not only one of Britain’s top designers, but as one of the world’s most stunningly innovative and beautifully creative designer.

Truly, he shall be missed.
